The current beta
Current release details are available on the download page.
Browse the public release archive for earlier packages and their notes. Source-code changes are separate from published app releases.
Check from inside Saylo
- Open Saylo’s menu-bar menu and choose Check for Updates, or use the update controls in Settings.
- Review the offered version and release notes.
- Confirm installation when you are ready. Finish active dictation before allowing the app to relaunch.
Configured direct-download builds use an HTTPS feed and verify signed update packages. Automatic checks are optional and off by default. You can turn them on in Settings; that does not enable cloud speech processing.
An older build without an update feed needs one manual installation of a configured release before it can check for future versions.
Try an older-to-newer update
The beta channel includes an older installer for testing the updater. Install that copy once, open it from Applications, and choose Check for Updates. It should offer the newer published beta.
The test installer is linked under “Test an in-app update” on the download page.
Testing is still important: package signing and a reachable feed do not by themselves prove that an installation completed on your Mac. Report the starting version, offered version, and any error if the update fails.
Make sure you opened the right copy
Saylo shows its version and numeric build in Settings. The build number distinguishes successive packages, even when their version labels are close. The DMG window also shows the version and build timestamp.
If an update seems missing, quit the old running copy and open Saylo from Applications. Reopening a DMG or a build folder can run a different copy. Keep one installed copy active during testing.
If the updater cannot finish, your current beta remains available and the download page provides the latest installer. Read its release notes before replacing the installed app.
What beta means here
Saylo is being tested across apps, editors, microphones, and permission states. Compatibility varies, and a preview that works in one editor may need Copy or Paste in another.
The current build uses a local certificate and is not Apple Developer ID signed or notarized. macOS may block a downloaded beta from opening. This is separate from the updater’s package-signature check. Keep your Mac’s security protections enabled and contact support if you need help.
