Saylovs.MacWhisper

Start with the work you need to finish

Saylo is focused on speaking into compatible text fields, with chosen-key recording and a short recovery history. MacWhisper covers a broader transcription workspace as well as dictation.

MacWhisper’s official site describes audio and video file transcription, subtitle exports, meeting capture, and local or connected AI models. Those are useful distinctions when your work starts with an existing recording. Saylo does not offer file transcription or a meeting service in its current beta.

Compare the actual product and currency

MacWhisper’s website lists Pro at €64 per license as a one-time purchase including updates. Its official store may show a localized amount or different checkout details. Use the official site and the developer’s Gumroad listing to confirm your price; do not treat a euro amount as CAD.

The developer distinguishes the direct-download app from its App Store edition. Check which edition a feature or price refers to.

Saylo’s current beta remains free and uncapped. Its planned post-beta pricing is Free at 2,000 words a week, or Pro unlimited local dictation at CA$7.99 monthly or CA$79 yearly on up to three personal Macs. Checkout is not active.

A useful way to trial both

Try MacWhisper if a collection of recordings, transcript editing, subtitles, or exports is central to your work. Check the current model and hardware requirements for the tasks you need.

Try Saylo if you want a small local dictation beta beside your normal editor. Test the exact input field you use, along with deliberate edits and Copy/Paste recovery. Its currently supported hardware is an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later.

Use a non-private sample and compare how each app fits the workflow, rather than assuming broader features make one recognizer faster or more accurate.
