Saylo privacy: your voice and text.

Speech is recognized on your Mac. Here is what Saylo keeps, what it does not upload, and how you stay in control of the current beta.

Updated October 26, 2026

From microphone to words

Saylo captures microphone audio for dictation and recognizes it locally with its speech model. It does not upload your microphone audio or dictated text, or save audio recordings as files. An initial model download requires internet; recognition works offline after the model is available.

When you insert a transcript into another app, that app’s own storage and privacy settings apply. Local recognition in Saylo does not change how a document editor, chat service, or clipboard utility handles text you give it.

What stays on this Mac

DataHow the beta handles it
Recent dictationsThe latest 10 non-secure results stay in memory. Clear them from Recent Dictations, or quit Saylo to remove the session history. Transcripts are not saved to disk by Saylo.
Learned correctionsCorrection mappings are stored locally. Review or remove them in Learned Words. Repeated confirmations support text substitution; this is not acoustic-model training.
Clipboard snapshotsHeld in memory while Saylo restores the previous clipboard around a paste. Clipboard contents are not logged.
PreferencesChoices such as the dictation key and update-check setting stay on your Mac.

Fields recognized as secure are excluded from Recent Dictations. Text-field support varies, so avoid using test dictation for secrets.

Why Saylo looks at focus

Accessibility access helps Saylo identify the active editor, manage its own live draft, paste text, and notice corrections. Input Monitoring detects the chosen dictation key and whether other input occurred so terminal delivery can stop safely.

Saylo does not record key contents or mouse positions. A focus or cursor change can stop insertion rather than risk overwriting something you are editing.

When the internet is used

Network activity is limited to model downloads and configured software-update checks and downloads. Automatic update checks are off by default; you can enable them in Settings. Update packages are signed, and Sparkle system profiling is disabled.

These requests expose ordinary connection and request metadata to the hosts that deliver models and updates. They do not send dictated text or microphone audio from Saylo.

This website uses self-hosted fonts and fetches public release metadata from GitHub. Vercel and GitHub receive normal web requests, including connection metadata, under their own service policies. Optional website analytics is described below; it is separate from the Saylo app.

Optional website analytics

Google Analytics is optional on this website. Before you allow it, we do not load Google measurement scripts or send Google analytics requests. Choosing Necessary only or closing the privacy dialog leaves it off. Downloads and help pages remain available either way.

If you allow analytics, Google receives public-page views and clicks on the Saylo installer download link. These events include the public page path and the type of action. Google also processes ordinary connection and device information and uses pseudonymous browser and session identifiers in analytics cookies. A click does not tell us whether you installed or used the app.

We exclude account and activation-return pages, unknown pages, preview sites, and URLs containing query strings or fragments. Our configured events omit URL queries, fragments, referrers, email addresses, account IDs and dictation content. Advertising features, Google signals and automatic enhanced measurement are disabled. We do not use this measurement for advertising or record your screen.

Your analytics choice is stored locally in this browser for up to 180 days. Analytics cookies are limited to saylo.marloo.net and configured to expire after 180 days without renewal. Choose Website privacy choices in the footer, then Necessary only, to withdraw permission. The page reloads to stop the loaded measurement code and removes this website’s analytics cookies. Withdrawal stops future collection; it cannot undo requests already sent. We respect supported Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals even if analytics was previously allowed.

Google is the analytics service provider and may process this information outside your country. See Google’s privacy policy and how Google handles information from sites using its services. For a privacy request, contact info@marloo.net. No website analytics permission enables telemetry, audio uploads or transcript uploads in the Saylo app.

Diagnostics you choose to share

Local logs record operational details such as app identifiers, field capabilities, error codes, timings, caret ranges, and character counts. They do not record dictated words, correction words, clipboard contents, or audio.

Export Diagnostics creates a filtered local report with version/build, permission states, recent operational events, and sanitized crash information. Review it before sending it. Nothing is uploaded automatically. Prefer this export over sharing raw logs or complete macOS crash files.

The current beta has no Saylo account or payment system. Any future cloud AI feature would need an explicit choice explaining what is sent and why; enabling updates does not enable cloud dictation.
